Moments that look like this.

Photos that feel like you.

Rain or shine,
Whatever the setting or season,
Let's make this engagement session your own.

Engagement sessions are FREE*

* with the purchase of any wedding package (excluding elopements)

Otherwise, sessions start at $400

Don't have a wedding date set yet but want to get a move on the engagement session without missing out on this sweet deal? Don't worry, I understand.

Not only is wedding planning a lengthy process, but it's also nice to get to meet me before committing to a wedding package. So I've made sure that you always have the option to purchase the engagement session upfront, and when you proceed with your wedding package, the engagement session will be reimbursed in full at that time excluding added charges. This gives you freedom to not lock into a package you're not ready to commit to. But be aware, that until a wedding contract is signed and a deposit is paid, I cannot guarantee that your date will be available at the time that you request it.

Why should I book an engagement session?

First and foremost, the main reason to book an engagement session is of course to commemorate the beginning of your special chapter with your partner. Beyond that, any excuse to get some photos taken with your loved one is a good one! Secondly, assuming you were wanting to have photos done at your wedding, an engagement session is a wonderful opportunity to trial both the experience, and the photographer. The same way that I like to use the engagement session as an opportunity to get to know you and your partner, you could use it as an opportunity to familiarize yourself both with being in front of the camera, and to make sure that we would be a good fit for your upcoming wedding date.

The engagement photos often showcase more personality, and are a really fun way to incorporate some personality into your photos. While your wedding photos of course will shine in their own way customizing this set to your personality is a great bonding experience, and you can even use the resulting images to decorate your wedding invitations and website, as well as your venue day of.

What does the ideal engagement session look like?

There is no template for the perfect engagement session. My suggestion is to think about what feels most authentic to you, and to try and have fun! Too vague?

Here are some prompts to help you narrow down what approach is best for you two.

1. Is there a prop, setting, or location of significance that would feel nice to incorporate? This could be a common interest, or an element that is unique to your love story. Feel free to think outside the box. No scenario is off limits, and in fact, the more original of a concept it is, the more excited I am to get creative with you! For instance, did you meet at the library? Was your first date over coffee? We can strategize together to incorporate these elements that are special to you into the session to make it uniquely your own.

2. Don't feel like there's something of special significance to your story but still want to do something fun that would help take the attention off of the camera? Date night shoots can be super fun! Pick an activity that you and your partner love to do together, or maybe have never tried before but have always wanted to, and invite me to follow you around. Having something to "do" helps tell a beautiful story through the photos, and can really take the pressure off if you aren't excited about the thought of focusing on the camera. Which is totally fine, I get it. How about taking a pottery class together, or staying home and making some pizza from scratch? These photos will really help showcase your personalities in a candid and authentic manner.

3. Does that still seem too complicated to you, and you'd rather keep it more traditional and simple? No worries at all, you're still in the majority. The only thing left to consider though is to choose a location. Assuming you don't have a "special" place you feel drawn to, here is the easiest way to start narrowing down your vision for the session. The possible settings can be broken down fairly easily into a few distinct categories. Indoors (at home, in a studio, in a public place like a library), or outdoors. Outdoors breaks down further into an urban/city background, or a natural background. For a natural background, your options will typically be to go to the mountains, to find a body of water, to frolic in a vast and open field, to find a floral setting, or to run away into the forest.

So what feels most "you"?

If you're still not sure, don't worry. It's part of my job to help you figure this out and I have a huge mental list of all the most beautiful places in Alberta for us to choose from. Let's hop on a quick call or meet up for a coffee so I can get to know you, and your story a little better, and then I'm sure I'll be able to draw up the perfect plan, in the perfect place.
